New Measures of Facebook to stop fake news
The Facebook team continues to adjust the dynamics of the platform to improve the user experience, and counteract one of their biggest headaches, false notifications.
One of the last steps they have taken following this line has to do with how they will present the "Trending topics", implementing three new changes.
One of them seeks to ensure that the news that comes to be presented as popular topics are truthful. To do this, the criterion used to indicate an article as a trend has been changed: the interaction that has generated a topic by examining articles from different publishers will now be analyzed.
That is to say, that a post is viral will no longer reach to figure among the Trending, but that the subject imposed must prevail in different means to be considered among the "popular".
Other details that have been changed with this update are illustrated in this image:
When viewing the popular themes, users will now see a complete title under the topic that is trend at the moment, without needing to move the mouse cursor. The dynamics remain the same, the title is taken from some of the media that have covered the subject.
That way, readers will be able to see the context of the topic at a glance. And as a bonus to all these measures, it will no longer suggest topics based on the interests of users, but all those who belong to the same region see the same trends.
