    Browse privately in Google chrome

Recently a conversation with the Google support team made me doubt about what is good and why not private browsing (in Chrome "window incognito"). And is that I was urged to open a private tab because "it was recommended for security when dealing with bank details."
Somehow it may be true, someone using the same computer might be able to access certain compromising data, but the way they put it made you think that private browsing somehow helped protect our bank details from third parties to the other Side of the network. But no.
So let's dig deeper into how private browsing works, also known as incognito browsing or Incognito tab in Google Chrome.

    Why safely browse

Google also give information about "incognito" of your Chrome browser is, what exactly we doing safe browsing. The only difference from "normal" browsing basically lies in NOT keeping the following information:

    1) Cookies: When they close the window they disappear.
    2) Web cache: no file remains.
    3) Browser history (other than Google searches).
    4) Data for the "autocomplete" function of forms.
    5) Other browser data: passwords, download lists, etc.

And one more advantage that possibly was the real reason that, from Google, I insisted on carrying out the procedures through a tab of private navigation:

    i) Open multiple Google accounts at once without the browser going crazy with the information cached (personally I manage dozens of accounts at the same time and yes, sometimes it becomes very crazy the poor Chrome).

Another advantage of this latter feature is that, especially for online marketing professionals:

i)Using Google as an anonymous user: this will remove the social factor from the search results to see more neutral SERPs would be like a temporary logout of our account.

And what private navigation is NOT for

From all the above it is clear that this private mode of navigation works locally, that is, it limits the information stored in our equipment. But there are many things that will not save us from using private browsing:

    1. Disable Google Analytics tracking code: If you do not want to alter the traffic data of your website or your clients, you must install the disabling plugin for this purpose.
    2. Turn off Google search history: this is saved "in the cloud" and, because it is not local, is information that Google will save unless you disable it for your account.
    3. Avoiding security-related attacks: Mozilla in fact explains how private browsing does not help prevent phenomena such as key logging or spyware.
In the same way there are elements related to the browser that can be altered without returning to the initial state when closing the tabs and / or windows of private browsing or incognito, a couple of examples:
    • Browser Bookmarks: If they are edited during private browsing, they can still be queried after being a common element, regardless of the way you navigate.
    • Downloaded files: that which is stored locally is not deleted "by magic" when closing the tabs, but will remain in the download folder (not so the download history
