10 Things Telegram Does and WhatsApp Not
WhatsApp has long been a very good competitor. Yes, I speak
of telegram, a messaging application much more complete than the one belongingto Facebook, and with many more options. Today we show you 10 things that
Telegram can do and WhatsApp not.
1 - Channels in Telegram:
Since the end of 2015 Telegram
began adding channels in its application. These channels have the function of
informing and divulging any type of subject. The good thing about Telegram
channels is that you can join (or you can join) without the need to add or
display your phone number. That, in the case of being a public channel, if it
is a private channel the administrator has to accept you.

2 - Bots:
The bots are a resource that offers telegram so
that any person or company can create a system of automatic interaction with
the users. In Telegram we can find a multitude of bots, which automatically displays the news published
.
3 - Telegram API:
The Telegram API facilitates the creation
of different contents, such as bots. Any user can create automatic systems with
different content, there are many options, but the most important are the
possibilities offered in the future. As the telegram API opens options, the
integrated platforms will expand their number.
4 - Telegram does not need to show our phone number:
When we
create a telegram account we add a user name, and that will be our main
identifier. This option is very feasible when we do not want to give our phone
number to a person, simply, with our username, you can chat with us. Of course,
we will not be shown your phone number (unless we have it).
5 - Telegram Web and desktop:
Telegram adds the possibility
of using your messaging service in web version or desktop version without
having our smartphone nearby. The fact that it does not depend on a telephone
number facilitates this possibility, since only a login and a password is
required, without complex mobile verification systems.
6 - Integrations with IFTTT:
Since last December, Telegram
added the support for the IFTTT task automation service. This option allows us
to perform different tasks through the Telegram application, such as sending
mails, sharing Tweets, activating devices remotely and a huge etcetera.
7 - Sending large videos:
Another thing that Telegram does
better than WhatsApp is the ability to send videos without limit of size.
WhatsApp only allows you to upload videos up to 16 MB, if we exceed the limit
we can cut the video to the maximum allowed, but Telegram offers a much larger
limit, approximately 1.5 GB. Of course, the time and data consumption will
depend on the size of the video
8 - Self-destruct chats:
In Telegram we can activate the
auto-destruct chats option. That is, you can send a chat to a person with a
time limit, after that time the chat will be deleted permanently, and no
possibility to re-read (unless you send it again).
9 - Groups of 5,000 people:
Telegram supergroups allow up to
5,000 people in them, ideal for large institutions and thematic groups.
Although channels are more practical for sending information to thousands of
people at the same time, groups offer interaction among members.
10 - Send files of any format:
In Telegram we can send any
type of file, whatever it is (RAR files, torrents, images, documents ...) and
of any size. While in WhatsApp only allows us to send documents, images,
videos, location, and contacts.
