Personalized web addresses for Youtube Channel
As a result of the integration of Google+ into YouTube in the past, despite the fact that for a year now there has been no dependence with Google+, YouTube had maintained two similar formats for generating personalized web addresses, which has led to some cause Confusion among followers when it comes to wanting to access the channels of their favorite creators.
Now, to correct this problem, YouTube has just launched a new system in which the two formats of existing custom web addresses bearing the same name point directly to a single channel instead of different channels.
In this way, youtube.com/ChannelName, which belongs directly to YouTube, and youtube.com/c/ChannelName format, established as a result of past integration with Google+, will point to a single channel of the same name. YouTube says that under the new system will also avoid duplicate naming for channels in the future, where in addition, claiming a new custom URL on YouTube will not have any link to the custom URL in your Google+ profile and vice versa.
According to YouTube, only 0.02% of channels with personalized web addresses will have to claim new ones because of the conflict of name duplications as a result of the application of the new system. In this sense, the platform will work closely with the creators of the affected channels to find a solution. Those responsible for the affected channels will be notified and will have until May 31 of next year to request a new personalized web address.
From YouTube they believe that the new system will be beneficial for both creators and long-term followers, avoiding the conflicts that have hitherto been possible.
